Introduction to Samrong School of Opportunity

We hope that you will enjoy your visit to our school. We welcome friends from all over the world to come and teach us about your people, language, and culture.

Samrong Village School of Opportunity is a village and non-government school. Our village is located in Knar Pour Commune, Sotnie Kom District, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia.

We are about 33 kilometers to the northeast of Siem Reap, accessible from the main highway through a network of dirt roads. Samrong Village School of Opportunity was born in 03 March 2009 by youths and people in village. We started and got the law from authority to build our project. We borrowed two classes from government school to teach until our school that is just building and finding more funding is finished. While we just open that class we got 8 orphans and 60 from poor farmers and disable families in and outside village.

Our staffs invite people in the village to join with our meeting every two month and their also can suggest new project. Recently, people suggested to us they would like us to teach Khmer to old people because it is very important for them to get more information from government and some NGO. It would be good if they can write and read news. For this plan from people is discussed and will start when we got more funding from NGO, companies and humanities around the world. It will be change their thinking and better job. Now our school did not get sponsor and foundation anything. We welcome if you would like to be our sponsor or supporter.

My name is Laim Len. As a local resident and a volunteer representative of our village and school, I am doing all I can find outside support with my friend Mr. Tola Seart. With the help of a concerned English speaking friend, we made this website to tell you the story of our village and school." we need you to help directly to the village".

Through this website, we hope to meet new friends who would like to teach or show support in other ways. Anything from a sack of rice, to a series of textbooks, or even a solar panel and computer would be a blessing. The students, teachers, people and principal will welcome and honor you. Thank you for visiting our website today.

Sincerely,
Laim Len
